Ground Broken on New Nursing Facility at Wis. Vets Home at King

Governor Tony Evers and Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary-designee Mary Kolar helped break ground Tuesday on a new state-of-the-art, 192-bed skilled nursing facility at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King in Waupaca County. The new facility, named John R. Moses Hall, costs $80 million, and is part of an overall investment in the campus of $104 million. Construction on the new building is expected to last two years. The overall project includes improvements to the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, retaining wall replacement on nearby Rainbow Lake, water system improvements, electrical and other safety upgrades and an overall of food service. The Wisconsin Veterans Home at King is located on 42 acres, one mile southwest of Waupaca. The facility was founded in 1887 by the Grand Army of the Republic, a Civil War Veterans Organization. Other veterans homes operated by the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs are located in Union Grove and Chippewa Falls.
