Marcia Snyder Wins Don Jones Leadership Award

“Do something!  Do anything!”  Simple words of wisdom and encouragement from a Fond du Lac area volunteer and leader, known for doing pretty much everything.  According to the recipient of the 2014 Donald G. Jones Leadership Alumni Award, volunteering is for everyone and the opportunities are endless!

An energized take on leadership seems most fitting when recognizing Marcia Snyder, portfolio administrator officer at Hometown Bank, as the 2014 recipient of the Donald G. Jones Leadership Alumni Award.  The Donald G. Jones Leadership Alumni Award has been presented annually since 2001, recognizing a Leadership Fond du Lac grad for the work they’ve done to improve their community through volunteering and employing leadership skills. The award’s namesake is a former area businessman who played a major role in founding and supporting Leadership Fond du Lac, a program of the Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce.

Anyone that knows Snyder, knows that she is not one to sit back and observe; instead she leads through action and example and she doesn’t wait for an opportunity to find her.  If there is a need, more often than not, Snyder will be there leading the way without ever looking back to see if anyone is following her.  Of course, it would be hard not to follow in her footsteps and lucky for the Fond du Lac community, countless volunteers are energized by Snyder’s leadership and are doing just that.

As a 2002 graduate of the Leadership Fond du Lac program, Snyder’s first volunteer commitment brought her to the Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce, serving on the Communications Council – which she continues to contribute to today.  From there, her volunteer commitments grew exponentially!

Snyder currently serves as the treasurer for Fishing has no Boundaries, Church of Our Savior and Residential Services, Inc.  She also serves on the advisory board for the Fond du Lac Symphonic Band, is a team captain for Relay for Life, is the second vice president of the Wisconsin USBC Women’s Bowling Association, is the chair and campaign captain of the Fond du Lac United Way and serves as current president of the Fond du Lac Noon Optimists.  Snyder previously served as the chair of the Leadership Fond du Lac Leader Seekers, was a board member and past president of Habitat for Humanity of Fond du Lac County, served three years as co-chair of the Leadership Fond du Lac Alumni Empty Bowls Fundraiser and was past chair of the Leadership Fond du Lac Alumni Board.
