Pay Raises for State Employees up for Approval Next Week

A special legislative committee is scheduled to vote on pay raises for state employees next week. The panel of legislative leaders is scheduled to meet on December 18th to act on pay plans that Governor Tony Evers’ administration sent for approval last month. Under the plan, state workers are slated to receive a two-percent general wage increase in each of the next two years. The Governor is also proposing that the minimum wage for state employees be raised to $15 an hour starting in June. Democrats had been calling on Republican leaders to set the meeting date so the raises can go into effect next month as planned.
