Badger basketball fans are being urged to arrive at least 15 minutes early for Friday’s season-opening game against Eastern Illinois. The team will take some time before tip-off to recognize assistant coach Howard Moore, whose family was involved in a double-fatal vehicle accident earlier this year.  Moore’s wife, Jen, and nine-year-old daughter, Jaidyn, were killed. Moore will be on medical leave all season. The game starts at 7 pm at the Kohl Center.

 Women’s College Basketball:

Non-Conference:

UW-Green Bay 111, Central Michigan 105 (2OT)

--Karly Murphy scored 30 points for the Phoenix in the win

UW-Milwaukee 84, UW-Parkside 77 (OT)

NFL:

Packer coaches are hoping Ibraheim Campbell can help stabilize the revolving door at the dime linebacker position.  Campbell returns from the P-U-P list in time to play this Sunday against Carolina. Coach Matt LaFleur says his versatility could offer a spark for Packer special teams while taking snaps as a safety and as the dime linebacker. That position has been in flux since Raven Greene was sidelined in Week-2. Campbell had 18 tackles in three games and knows the Mike Pettine defensive scheme well enough to have an immediate impact.

Week 10 begins tonight with Thursday Night Football as the LA Chargers travel to Oakland. Listen on KFIZ from our partners at Westwood One Sports starting at 7 pm.

Baseball:

The Wisconsin Senate has taken the first step toward ending the one-tenth-of-one percent sales tax which paid for the construction of Miller Park.  The tax has been in effect in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Washington and Waukesha counties since 1996. It would end when the stadium district has paid off its bonds and satisfied reserve requirements.  That means it should be retired by August 31st. The legislation still needs Governor Evers' signature.
