The Latest Sports Headlines:

>>NFL Players Approve New Contract – Including 17-Game Season

(New York, NY)  -- NFL players have given their approval to a new labor agreement running through the 2030 season. The deal includes a 17-game regular season, higher salaries, bigger rosters and larger pension payouts for current and former players. It is possible the 17-game regular season won’t start until 2021. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was one of several hundred players opposing the deal. The final vote was one-thousand-19 for the agreement and 959 against. The results of the vote were announced by the league Sunday.

>>Bucks Players, Team Pledge Thousands For Workers Idled By NBA Suspension Of Play

(Milwaukee, WI)  -- The Milwaukee Bucks are the first N-B-A to take concrete action to help the more than one-thousand hourly workers at the Fiserv Forum who lost their income when the league suspended play.  Giannis Antetokounmpo was the first player to pledge 100 thousand dollars Friday, with all-star teammate Khris Middleton following close behind. Every player on the roster pledged to make a donation and the Bucks organization will match them, dollar-for-dollar. If the stoppage lasts for more than 30 days the franchise says it will take further steps.

>>Badgers Football Gets Commitment From 3-Star Florida Recruit

(Madison, WI)  -- The Wisconsin Badgers football program has landed a three-star recruit from Florida.  Inside linebacker Jake Chaney of Lehigh Acres announced his decision Sunday afternoon with a verbal commitment.  Chaney reportedly received offers from Iowa State, Michigan, Louisville, Minnesota and Florida International, among others.  The U-W coaches compare Chaney to graduating star Chris Orr, who figures to move on to an N-F-L career.

>>Major League Baseball Openers Delayed 2 Weeks – Could Be Longer

(Phoenix, AZ)  -- The Milwaukee Brewers reportedly have an optional workout set for today (Monday) for the players while Major League Baseball is stopped.  Responding to the coronavirus threat, the season openers have been delayed by two weeks. It is likely the postponements will be extended. The Brewers spring training home in Maryvale is closed to the fans for now.  Because players will need the work when they return, it’s likely we’re at least four weeks away from games – exhibition or regular season – right now.

>>Badgers Basketball Looks Solid For Next Season’s Big Ten Title

(Madison, WI)  -- The Wisconsin Badgers look like a solid pick to defend their regular-season Big Ten Conference basketball title next season.  While dealing with the disappointment of an abruptly ended season, the Badgers know they have a solid group of returning players. Only sharp-shooting Brevin Pritzl is graduating.  Wisconsin will return four of its five starters, 84 percent of its minutes and nearly 87 percent of its scoring next season. Since the Badgers won their last eight games and compiled a 16-and-5 record after Micah Potter became eligible, they figure to be a pre-season favorite.
