The Latest Sports Headlines:

>>NFL Network:  Former Badger Joe Schobert Signs Deal With Jacksonville Jaguars

(Jacksonville, FL)  -- The day after former Wisconsin Badger Rick Wagner signed a contract with the Green Bay Packers, another former Badger found a new home Tuesday. Linebacker Joe Schobert is reportedly going to the Jacksonville Jaguars on a 22-million-dollar agreement. Both Wagner and Schobert were walk-ons in Madison who have advanced to careers in the N-F-L. Schobert’s 133 tackles were 10th in the league last year and he also had a career-high four intercepted passes.

>>UW Recruit Johnny Davis Named 2020 Mr. Basketball By WBCA

(La Crosse, WI)  -- One of the top recruits for the University of Wisconsin has been named 2020 Mr. Basketball by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association. Johnny Davis of La Crosse Central averaged 27-point-six points-a-game for the Red Raiders as they reached the Division-2 sectional finals before the high school basketball season was ended by the coronavirus pandemic. Another La Crosse standout, Aquinas guard Lexi Donarski, was named 2020 Miss Basketball after averaging more than 24 points and seven assists-a-game for the Blugolds.  She will play at Iowa State.

>>Former Packer Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila Tasered, Arrested In Brown County Courtroom

(Green Bay, WI)  -- Former Green Bay Packer Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila was tasered and arrested in a Brown County courtroom Tuesday, then briefly taken to jail.  He had refused to comply with a judge’s order during a divorce proceeding and wasn’t cooperating with deputies when the Taser was deployed. The trouble started when Gbaja-Biamila refused to sign a document in his divorce – even though he had agreed to sign it previously.  The former N-F-L star has unsuccessfully tried to convince several court officials in the past that his religious beliefs supersede civil law.

>>Major League Baseball Teams Create $30M Fund Toward Helping Ballpark Workers

(Milwaukee, WI)  -- The Milwaukee Brewers are among 30 Major League Baseball Teams contributing one million dollars each to a fund aimed at helping ballpark workers idled by the coronavirus pandemic. A Monday announcement by M-L-B means the 2020 regular season won’t start before mid-May.  Brewers senior vice president Tyler Barnes says the specifics of the commitment by the teams will be worked out over the coming weeks. Many of the workers at Miller Park are employees of subcontractors like security and concessions, which may complicate things.

>>Bucks Call Sharpshooter Kyle Korver “Best Shooter In NBA History”

(Milwaukee, WI)  -- It might be a little bit of hyperbole.  In recognizing his 39th birthday, the Milwaukee Bucks called veteran forward Kyle Korver the “best shooter in N-B-A history."  During his career Korver has connected on almost 43 percent of his 3-pointers, averaging four-point-six shots-a-game. He is fourth on the all-time list with two-thousand-437 3-pointers made.  One N-B-A blogger credits Korver with being a real sharpshooter but says Steph Curry is still better.
