The Latest Sports Headlines:

>>2 Moves Leave Packers With $14.56M In Cap Space

(Green Bay, WI)  -- The two roster moves made by the Green Bay Packers so far in the off-season leave the team with 14-point-56 million dollars in cap space. Linebacker Christian Kirksey and offensive tackle Rick Wagner will replace two veterans in the lineup and will have smaller salaries.  Guard Lane Taylor is still on the roster, but releasing him would clear more cap space. The Packers don’t have nearly enough maneuvering room to make major free agency splashes like they did last year. Extending All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari will be the major expense connected to players still on the roster right now.

>>Brewers Manager:  “I’m Planning On There Being Baseball, Absolutely.”

(Milwaukee, WI)  -- Milwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell is remaining upbeat about the eventual return of Major League Baseball this summer.  He won’t project a date for the return because he says there’s just too much which isn’t known. In a media conference call, Counsell said the season won’t start anytime soon, but he’s optimistic it will eventually get its start.  He said players are working in small groups in Phoenix and Miller Park isn’t closed to workouts. What about a resumption of spring training? Counsell says it won’t do any good to start planning for spring training right now.

>>DNR Closes Counter Services, Directs License Renewals To Website

(Madison, WI)  -- Wisconsin is just over one week away from its new license year for anglers and hunters. The Department of Natural Resources says sportsmen who are renewing their licenses will be pushed to use online options this spring. The D-N-R has temporarily suspended its counter services at all of its Wisconsin centers with the current licenses expiring a week from Tuesday. A new license is needed to legally take part in a Wisconsin hunting or fishing season after April 1st.  Licenses can be purchased online at gowild.wi.gov 24 hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week.

>>Badger Football Recruiting Class Looking Like One Of The Best In Years

(Madison, WI)  -- The experts at 247 Sports like the recruiting class of 2022 being put together by Wisconsin Badgers football coach Paul Chryst and his staff. Six players are rated four-star athletes by the website – and that’s just the prospects coming from Wisconsin high schools who are listed among the top 247 nationwide. The Badgers are considered the favorite or co-favorite for offensive tackle Joe Brunner of Whitefish Bay, offensive lineman Carson Hinzman of Hammond, defensive end Isaac Hamm of Sun Prairie, safety Braelon Allen of Fond du Lac, lineman Bill Schrauth of Fond du Lac and wide receiver-tight end Jerry Cross of Milwaukee.
