Marquette Promotes Killings To Associate Head Coach

(Milwaukee, WI)  -- Standout recruiter Dwayne Killings has been promoted to associate head coach for the Marquette Golden Eagles. Coach Steve Wojciechowski made the announcement Monday. The 38-year-old Killings was hired in April 2018 after serving as an assistant coach at Connecticut and Temple.  Marquette still has one opening on its coaching staff after former associate head coach Stan Johnson left for the head coaching position at Loyola Marymount.

 

>>Badger Head Coach Named NABC District 7 Coach Of The Year

(Madison, WI)  -- The Wisconsin Badgers’ impressive finish to the shortened basketball season has earned another honor for the head coach.  Greg Gard has been named District-7 Coach of the Year by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Gard led the Badgers to a share of the program's first Big Ten regular-season title since 2015. Wisconsin won its last eight games to finish 14-and-6 in the conference and 21-and-10 overall.  Gard was already named Big Ten Coach of the Year.

 

>>Greek Freak Is Media’s Overwhelming Choice For NBA Most Valuable Player

(Bristol, CT)  -- Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is the overwhelming media choice to retain his N-B-A Most Valuable Player award for a second straight season. It’s not official, but E-S-P-N conducted a survey of 70 media members and the Greek Freak was their first choice for M-V-P 60 times. Future Hall of Famer LeBron James has received a lot of praise for his performance during his 17th season in the league and he leads every player with 10-point-six assists-a-game.  The rest of the top-five in the informal polling included James Harden, Luka Doncic and Kawhil Leonard.

 

>>WIAA Cancels April Meeting, Delays Final Decision On Spring Sports Seasons

(Stevens Point, WI)  -- The board of control for the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association has decided to cancel its annual meeting set for next month and delay a final decision about delay or cancellation of the spring sports seasons. Those decisions were made at a special meeting Thursday conducted by video conferencing. Decisions on amendments to the membership's constitution and bylaws and rules of eligibility won’t be addressed until the annual meeting in April 2021.

 

>>UW Volleyball Standout Selected Finalist For Sullivan Award

(Madison, WI)  -- University of Wisconsin junior standout Dana Rettke has been selected as one of the 10 finalists for this year’s 90th A-A-U James E. Sullivan Award. Rettke is a six-foot-eight middle blocker who was the youngest member of the 2019 U-S National Team which won the Volleyball Nations League and earned a spot in the 2020 Olympics. She was named the 2019 Big Ten Conference Player of the Year and has received multiple other honors.  Voting is conducted online and it ends next Monday night.
