The Latest Sports Headlines:

>>NFL Draft:  Packers Should Think “Speed” At Wide Receiver

(Green Bay, WI)  -- Expect the Green Bay Packers to look for some speed at wide receiver next month at the 2020 N-F-L Draft.  They have size in players like six-foot-five Allen Lazard. None of the guys on the roster right now are very quick – with exception of Marquez Valdes-Scantling and his four-point-37 clocking in the 40-yard dash. There’s no guarantee he will even make the team next season and he’s the only one with a sub-four-four time.  General manager Brian Gutekunst has made it apparent he prefers size over speed, but he’s going to need somebody to clear out the congestion by offering a long-distance threat for the defense.

>>Bucks 2nd-Year Player DiVincenzo Makes Good Use Of More Playing Time

(Milwaukee, WI)  -- The answer to the question about who is going to be the third scoring option for the Milwaukee Bucks – after Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton – may be second-year man Donte DiVincenzo soon. DiVincenzo doubled his scoring to nine-point-four points-a-game before the season was interrupted. He played in 59 of 65 games and started 22 while increasing his average playing time to 23 minutes-a-game.  He got high marks for improving his defensive results and gave the Bucks a spark off the bench. He might just become that third offensive option sooner than the team expected.

>>Future Looking "Good" For Badgers Basketball

(Madison, WI)  -- Two recruits for the Wisconsin Badgers basketball program have been chosen high school players of the year in South Dakota and Nebraska.  Matthew Mors is a four-star prospect from Yankton who got offers from Iowa, Nebraska and Creighton. Chucky Hepburn is also rated a four-star prospect who led Bellevue West High School to the Nebraska state championship in Class-A. Mors and Hepburn gave verbal commitments to Wisconsin last September. Add forward Chris Hodges from Schaumburg, Illinois and 247Sports-dot-com ranks the Badgers 2021 recruiting class number-one – at least for now and for the recruiting cycle last fall.

>>Top Assistant Leaves Marquette Women’s Basketball Staff For Illinois

(Milwaukee, WI)  -- Marquette head basketball coach Megan Duffy starts her second season leading Golden Eagles women’s basketball by searching for an assistant.  Marquette alum Scott Merritt is moving on to a job with the University of Illinois. Merritt was on the Golden Eagles staff for the last five years. Illinois head coach Nancy Fahey announced his hiring in Champaign Thursday. The Illini need a boost after going 2-and-16 in the Big Ten Conference this season. College recruiting is on hold right now, but Duffy will be looking for somebody with some recruiting chops so her office will be ready when it resumes.
