The Latest Sports Headlines:

>>Packers Grab A Pair Of Players Waived By The Miami Dolphins

(Green Bay, WI)  --  The Green Bay Packers have claimed two defensive players off waivers from the Miami Dolphins.  NFL.com reported the moves Tuesday.  Defensive tackle Gerald Willis and edge rusher Jamal Davis were signed as undrafted free agents last season, spending some time on the Dolphins roster.  With a vertical leap of 39 inches and a four-point-six time in the 40, Davis gets high marks for his athletic abilities.  Willis, the younger brother of Redskins safety Landon Collins, had 18 tackles for loss and four sacks during his senior year at the University of Miami.

>>Report:  Minor League Baseball Ready To Accept Contraction Of 42 Teams

(Undated)  --  When Minor and Major League Baseball meets later today (Wednesday) to negotiate a new Professional Baseball Agreement, contraction will be on the table. Baseball America is reporting the number of affiliated minor league teams will be reduced by 42. Short-season and rookie league baseball would be gone. Minor League Baseball released a statement late Tuesday saying no new agreements have been reached on the number of teams moving forward.

>>WIAA Tosses Consolation Prize To Coaches, Players

(Stevens Point, WI)  --  In an effort to ease the sting of the loss of the high school spring sports season, the WIAA will allow an expanded unrestricted summer contact period for athletes and their coaches.  The decision was made by the board of control at its Tuesday meeting.  The 30 out-of-season contact days this summer will let coaches work with spring season athletes in grades nine-through-12.  The contact will be possible only if access to schools is reopened.

>>NFL Fans Given The Chance To Submit Videos To Be Part Of The Broadcast

(Green Bay, WI)  --  Packers fans will be able to join the fans of all of the other NFL teams during Thursday night’s broadcast of the 2020 virtual draft.  They’re being invited to submit videos which might be featured as part of the live broadcast starting at 7:00 p-m Central Time.  Officials say a random group of pre-selected Packers fans may also be part of the draft through the NFL’s Virtual Inner Circle.  If there is time, those participants might be contacted for a video chat. The 2020 N-F-L Draft is already unique because it is being conducted remotely and virtually. The league is doing all it can to avoid losing the value of the annual spectacle and to keep its fans watching.
