The Latest Sports Headlines:

>>Gutekunst:  Packers Tried To Get WR In 2nd Round, But Couldn’t Move Up

(Green Bay, WI)  --  Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst says the team tried to get a wide receiver in the second round of last weekend’s 2020 NFL Draft, but couldn’t move up. They had two prospects they were tracking. Gutekunst says he tried to trade with several teams but ended the effort when his second choice came off the board. The Packers G-M didn’t name the players he was after. Seven wide receivers were taken in the first 27 picks of the second round. Green Bay went with power running back A-J Dillon instead.

>>Latest MLB Plan Would Have Brewers Playing In Texas With Midwest Teams

(Milwaukee, WI)  --  The latest plan being floated to get the Major League Baseball season started would have the Milwaukee Brewers playing in Texas.USA Today is reporting the 30 teams would be divided into three 10-team divisions playing in Arizona, Florida and in the new Texas Rangers ballpark in Arlington. The Brewers would be there with teams like the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, Kansas City Royals and Cincinnati Reds.  There’s still no official timetable for resuming play. This latest approach would require a revised format for post-season play.

>>Favre Offers His Take On His Former Team Drafting A QB, Just Like In 2005

(Green Bay, WI)  --  Brett Favre went through it 15 years ago – when the Green Bay Packers drafted his eventual replacement, Aaron Rodgers.  He says he knows exactly how Rodgers feels after the Packers selected Jordan Love. Favre says the most disconcerting thing about seeing the team draft a quarterback is that you finally begin to realize the clock is ticking toward the end of your career. The Hall of Famer says Rodgers has many good years ahead – unless he is injured.  He’s sure Rodgers understands the process and he’s also sure that as long as Green Bay has Aaron Rodgers on its roster it has a chance to go to the Super Bowl every year.

>>Badgers QB Coan On The List For The Post-Season Senior Bowl

(Madison, WI)  --  Wisconsin Badgers starting quarterback Jack Coan is on the preliminary list of college seniors being considered for next year’s Senior Bowl.  The January game in Mobile, Alabama is a showcase for the best N-F-L Draft prospects every postseason. Coan is coming off a junior campaign that saw him complete almost 70 percent of his passes for more than 27 hundred years, with 18 touchdown passes and only five interceptions. Barring the unforeseen, Coan is likely to play in the important game – if he keeps up with that kind of production.
