The Latest Sports Headlines:

>>Lambeau Field, Titletown Show Support For Frontline Workers

(Green Bay, WI)  -- Packers team officials say the area around Lambeau Field and Titletown will be lit in blue tonight (Thursday) to show support for frontline workers fighting the coronavirus pandemic. The “Hashtag-LightItBlue” campaign is a nationwide effort showing support for health care, frontline and essential workers who can’t stay at home. Video boards and marquee signs at the stadium, plus Titletown’s marquee sign and plaza lights, will be lit up in blue for at least an hour starting at 8:00 p-m.  The campaign began in the United Kingdom last month.

>>It’s Time For NFL Teams To Get Back To Work – But They Can’t

(Green Bay, WI)  -- At this time last year, the Green Bay Packers and their new coach were already prepping for the upcoming season.  New N-F-L coaches this year were supposed to get that early work starting Monday, but the league has issued a directive that players can have contact with their team for now.  Packers head coach Matt LaFleur had hoped to expand the playbook and work with his players a little more on April 20th – but that calendar event has been put off indefinitely. LaFleur says he wanted to start installing the up-tempo section of the Packers offense which was rarely used last season.

>>Quintez Cephus Ready To Move On To NFL

(Madison, WI)  -- Just eight months after he sat in a courtroom to hear a not guilty verdict on two counts of sexual assault, former Wisconsin Badger Quintez Cephus is getting ready for another major event in his life.  The N-F-L beckons. The second half of his final season in Madison revealed his potential as a pro wide receiver. He still has some obstacles to overcome. His exceedingly slow time in the 40-yard dash during to Combine in Indianapolis has been offset by a much better performance at his pro day in Madison.  Now, it’s up to one of the 30 N-F-L teams to call out his name in two weeks.

>>Another Expert Offers Online Love For Badgers Basketball

(Undated)  -- At least one veteran college basketball journalist is offering some love for coach Greg Gard’s U-W Badgers next season.  Andy Katz writes for N-C-A-A-dot-com and does some work for the Big Ten Network. He’s projecting the Badgers to be the sixth-best team in the country next season, pointing to them having Micah Potter available all season and a strong class of incoming talent.  Iowa at number five is the only Big Ten team he ranks ahead of Wisconsin. Nine conference teams are listed on the writer’s “Power 36” rankings.
