The Latest Sports Headlines:

>>Modified Access To Practice Facility Coming For Bucks Players

(Milwaukee, WI)  --  Milwaukee Bucks players are being given modified access to the NBA team’s practice facility.  The league announced plans to let athletes return to those facilities effective May 1st. Wisconsin’s Safer at Home order limited that.  Now, the team says players will be allowed into the Froedtert and Medical College of Wisconsin Sports Science Center.  They will be able to access voluntary treatment, performance training and rehabilitation, according to general manager Jon Horst. There is still no firm date for a resumption of play.

>>Badgers Hockey Forward Cole Caufield Named B1G Freshman Of The Year

(Madison, WI)  --  Wisconsin Badgers hockey forward Cole Caufield has been named the Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Year.  Caufield’s 19 goals led all freshman scorers during the campaign. The Stevens Point native was also named to the All-Freshman Team and finished second in the conference with 36 points.  He and junior Wyatt Kalynuk were named first-team All-Big Ten. Kalynuk also won the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.  Sophomores K’Andre Miller and Roman Ahcan earned honorable mention.

>>3 Additions Have Things Looking Up For UW Women’s Basketball

(Madison, WI)  --  U-W women’s basketball coach Jonathan Tsipis and his staff have been improving the Badger roster during the extended offseason.  They’ve added three players.  Estella Moschkau is transferring from Stanford in a move announced a few weeks ago.  The latest newcomer to the Badgers will be five-foot-11 guard Lexi Duckett from Daytona Beach, Florida.  She’s transferring in from North Carolina, though she will likely have to sit out next season. Also headed to Madison is six-foot-four forward Lovisa Djurstrom from Sweden.  She was the leading scorer and rebounder on her elite team last year.

>>If DH Comes To National League Teams, Brewers Have Braun Ready To Go

(Milwaukee, WI)  --  Major League Baseball team owners have a plan to get back to work.  Now, it’s up to the players to okay the idea.  Part of the initial approach would include a universal designated hitter – and that could be good news for the Milwaukee Brewers. The team has been looking for a way to keep Ryan Braun’s potent bat in the lineup.  Braun never was strong in the field and the Brewers now have several younger, faster and better defenders available for the outfield and first base.  Many N-L teams don’t have a natural D-H on their rosters. The Brewers do.

>>American Hockey League Calls Off Season

(Springfield, MA)  --  The American Hockey League has canceled the rest of the 2019-2020 regular season due to the coronavirus pandemic.  That means the Milwaukee Admirals are the winners of the Central Division, the Western Conference and the entire AHL. They won’t be the Calder Cup Playoff winners because those games have been called off, too.  The Ads roared to the top of the standings with a 13-game winning streak between November 2nd and December 1st.  They finished with a record of 41 wins, 14 losses and 91 points in the standings.
