The Latest Sports Headlines:

>>NFL Schedule To Be Released This Week

(New York, NY)  --  The NFL 2020 season opener will be held September 10th and the Super Bowl is set for February 7th, 2021. The league’s 17-week schedule for the Green Bay Packers and all other teams will be released this week. Tentatively, the release is set for Saturday, but that could change. ESPN is reporting the NFL has contingency plans in place which could delay the start of the season until mid-October. The Packers schedule will include a head-to-head showdown between future Hall of Fame quarterbacks Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers when Green Bay plays in Tampa Bay against the Buccaneers.

>>Brewers Are “Favorites” To Sign Venezuelan SS Prospect

(Milwaukee, WI)  --  The Milwaukee Brewers are listed as the favorites to sign one of the top international prospects when the signing period begins July 2nd.  Sixteen-year-old Venezuelan shortstop Jackson Chourio is ranked the 16th-best prospect in the class.  He is more advanced as a hitter than a defender at this point, but he has the skills to remain at the position.  The Brewers have had multiple players from Venezuela on the roster in recent years, including Orlando Arcia, Jesus Aguilar, Junior Guerra, Hernan Perez and Manny Pina.

>>Ideas For Playing NBA Basketball In Las Vegas Coming From Businesses Themselves

(Las Vegas, NV)  --  Many of the ideas for resuming the NBA season in Las Vegas are apparently coming from businesses themselves. MGM Resorts International is pitching a package to set aside a fully-quarantined campus on one block of the Las Vegas strip where players would live and complete whatever schedule NBA leaders want. The teams would be housed in the 47-hundred-room Mandalay Bay resort, while 24 basketball courts would be built at the resort’s convention center.  Some of the courts would be used to televise games and others for practice.  The coronavirus pandemic has devastated the tourism industry and this would help it rebound.

>>Badgers To Play In 2021 Maui Invitational

(Madison, WI)  --  The Wisconsin Badgers will play in the 2021 Maui Invitational.  The eight-team field for the event in November of next year was released Friday. Wisconsin will be joined by Oregon, Notre Dame, Houston, Butler, Texas A&M, Saint Mary’s and the host team, Chaminade.  The last time the Badgers played in the Maui Invitational was during the 2016-2017 season. They beat Tennessee and Georgetown, then dropped a 71-56 decision to North Carolina.
